„Global warming is fiction”

Expert says Al Gore’s testimony is completely wrong

WASHINGTON - A former Sierra Club member says Al Gore was promoting science fiction during his testimony on Capitol Hill about global warming. In addition, he contends the former vice president’s proposals to fight global warming would raise energy prices and severely hinder the U.S. economy.

This week Gore urged Congress to take action against what he called the „planetary emergency” caused by global warming. He told lawmakers that „the Earth has a fever” and that a climate crisis „threatens the survival of our civilization and the habitability of the Earth.”

Paul Driessen -a senior policy advisor for the Congress of Racial Equality and Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow- says Gore’s claims are „completely wrong” and propped up by „bad science.”

„The fossil record, the ice core record -all the other data- shows that the sun has helped warm the Earth first, and then the carbon dioxide has increased”, Driessen explains. „So when you look at the record of the CO2 over the last few thousand years and you look at the record for the global temperatures - the temperature goes up, then the CO2 goes up; the temperature does down, then the CO2 goes down.”

According to Driessen, it is Gore’s climate alarmism -not global warming- that threatens the country.

„His proposals, whether its Kyoto or McCain-Lieberman or Bingaman or any of these other climate stabilization proposals, would not do any good whatsoever to stabilize CO2 levels in the atmosphere or global temperatures”, he maintains. „There would be almost an imperceptible change at a cost of a couple-hundred billion dollars a year just for the United States.”

Driessen says the negative economic impact of Gore’s proposals would be most severely felt by the country’s poor and minority families and the elderly, as well as by people in developing countries.

Gore recently won an Oscar for his film ”An Inconvenient Truth”, which purports to document ”global warming”. But Driessen encourages people to watch the new movie ”The Great Global Warming Swindle”, which he says underscores the expense involved in trying to pursue the „climate stabilization mirage.” Driessen is one of the featured experts in the film.
